Style is a word most people associate with fashion, clothes, hair, and makeup. While that’s true in some ways, finding your own style is really about discovering your individuality.
Have you ever had someone copy you—the clothes you buy, the makeup you wear, the trends you follow? People say, "Take it as a compliment," but those are often the same people who grew up doing exactly that. In some ways, we all did—letting others influence us and copying them because we were afraid of what people might think.
But style is so much more than just material things. It’s a way to express your authenticity—something that's completely unique to you.
Growing up, I was surrounded by girls who, in my eyes, seemed perfect. They looked down on me because I wore different clothes and acted differently. I was constantly influenced by those kinds of girls, scared that stepping out of my comfort zone would earn judgmental looks and degrading comments. That fear of being judged—and the desperate desire to fit in—stripped away every bit of my self-confidence as a young teen. Looking back, I realize that if I didn’t dress how I truly wanted to, I’d always feel like someone else… and never fully like me.
Experimenting with different styles and types of fashion is such an important part of the journey. You don’t have to fit into a perfectly defined aesthetic or style category.
If it looks good, wear it. If it feels good, wear it.
