Ran out of shows to binge that you can gain fashion inspo from? Well, I'm here to tell you who some of my TV fashion icons are.
First of all, the latest season of the hit show 'Emily in Paris' has just been released on Netflix and Emily's (Lily Collins) fashion sense has improved greatly since season 1. Emily's fashion sense is chic but bold, and playfully fun, and she loves mixing and matching multiple patterns in her outfits. Emily's fashion sense is very stereotypically 'American' compared to Sylvie's (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) timeless Parisian style. Sylvie's style is very minimal yet sophisticated - very old-money chic.
'S** and the City' tells the story of four women with four very different styles. Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) is a journalist whose personality is shown through her style. Her style choices are very experimental and trendy. She loves to mix high-end fashion pieces with thrifting finds. Carrie has a love for shoes, especially Manolo Blahnik's - which makes her even more iconic! Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) is a successful PR executive, so her power is shown through her style. Her clothes are normally very bold, dramatic and flirtatious - just like her! Her wardrobe is full of luxurious items, and she isn't afraid to show them off! Her go-to items are bodycon pieces or low-cut pieces - and always statement jewellery and stilettos. Charlotte York's (Kristin Davis) style is the epitome of elegant feminine fashion. As an art dealer, Charlotte's style is very sophisticated - she wears a lot of Ralph Lauren with ladylike touches such as pearls and silk scarves. Lastly, we have our powerful lawyer Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon). Miranda's palette is very neutral, and she will often be seen wearing a chic, sophisticated power suit. She has a very minimal style, opting for either a classic sweatshirt and jeans or like I said, a sophisticated power suit.
'Gossip Girl' is the show that has gifted us with the most iconic fashion of the 21st century. Blair and Serena - what else is there to say? Blair Waldorf's (Leighton Meester) style is the epitome of Upper East Side fashion. Her style is very preppy and sophisticated, she always looks put together. Her style is heavily influenced by fashion icons such as Audrey Hepburn. Blair's signature piece is most definitely a headband - she knows how to rock one with every look. Serena van der Woodsen's (Blake Lively) style is the complete opposite of her best friend Blair's. It's effortless yet bohemian. Her wardrobe includes a lot more bold prints and a mix of high-end pieces and everyday, casual pieces.
'Only Murders in the Building' main character Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) loves a vintage piece. She loves a statement jacket paired with a patterned skirt and band tee. Her style is very fun and playful with a unique youthful vibe. Mabel's style is very unique but clearly still trendy, just with her own personal touches. Mabel's go-to fashion pieces are her accessories such as hats, colourful scarves, and statement jewellery.
'Friends' Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) is a well-known fashion icon. She embraces a chic, feminine look whilst always being on trend. Rachel was the it girl of the late 90's & early 00's. Rachel wore a lot of fitted pieces that would highlight her figure, yet she also loved layering with sweaters over shirts and slip dresses over tops. Rachel's iconic fashion piece was her hair. Nicknamed 'The Rachel', her iconically layered, face-framing hairstyle became one of the most popular of the time. Monica Geller's (Courtney Cox) style is overlooked. It is more casual and athletic than Rachel's but still obviously stylish. She loved to incorporate her athletic wear into her casual style and in the later seasons her bold work pieces. Monica and Rachel's styles are very similar but notably different and iconic.
