'Brat Summer' And Its Influence On The World

Now that ‘Brat Summer’ is over, let’s talk about its influence on fashion and society. The ‘Brat Summer’ style is a very y2k, edgy, tacky, party girl inspired aesthetic. But Brat isn’t just style, it’s a mindset. You have to be very carefree and blunt to be ‘brat’. Charlie XCX said that Julia Fox was one of her inspirations for the ‘Brat Summer’ aesthetic.

What is ‘Brat’? ‘Brat’ is Charlie XCX’s latest album that released earlier this year. Since the release of the album Charlie has released remix’s of some of the songs with fellow artists such as Troye Sivan, Lorde, Billie Eilish, and Addison Rae. Since the release of these remix’s Troye Sivan and Charlie XCX have started a joint tour called the ‘Sweat Tour’ where they split the performance time with both of their top hits including ‘Talk Talk - Remix’ from ‘Brat’. They have had special guests perform songs with the two such as Lorde, and Addison Rae.

The album was popular from the moment it was released but the popularity was boosted when tiktoker ‘Kelly Heller’ created a dance called ‘The Apple Dance’ to Charlie’s song ‘Apple’ which went completely viral over summer. A crowd member of Charlie’s team’s choice is chosen to perform the dance during Apple at every single show of the tour.

It is a fact that ‘Brat summer’ is iconic and will always be remembered. In a few years we will reminisce about ‘brat summer’ and wish we could relive the time.
